People pushing their ELO by rejecting / aborting Games ?

i used to intentionally not play move hoping my opponent would abort when i faced 2200s. There should be a feature where you get to narrow the range of rating for opponent. I have to do it manually every time.

You should understand that such behaviour is wrong.

There should be a feature where you get to narrow the range of rating for opponent.

There is, as long as your rating is not provisional.

I have to do it manually every time.

You don't.

@mkubecek

Im getting nothing out of playing 2200s. i win i get +3 at most and when lose i will get -9 plus the tilt. it will be better for them to show respect by aborting when matched with someone 200+ above their rating.
When I matched 2900 i had enough respect to abort since they are much much better than me.
where is the automatic feature you speak of?

You can select rating range both for your challenges and for lobby display.

As for the first part, that's just absurd... When you are paired with someone rated 300 higher OTB, you also forfeit the game "out of respect"?

Is it only me that has got the impression that ppl are trying to push their ELO by rejecting/aborting a game ?

The more experienced a player is, the less likely they are to encounter suspicious opponents. A small number of games, a large difference between blitz and bullet ratings (especially if they favor blitz) all indicate that the opponent may be too strong. Beating them will be almost as difficult as defeating a stockfish. Therefore, in some cases, it's better to take a timeout.

For me it feels like a pattern. When getting matched i was 1046, the other guy 996. I did play 2600 games, the other guy 996. Ups too risky. 5 secs. later the same guy played a 1024 with 98 games who started 2 weeks ago, chances are higher to win. And....ups....he lost. Made my day.

The point is: When challenged in an automatic match, no one should see the elo, games, etc. Just play dammit.

I personally like to be informed about who I am playing. Someone rated 1250 with a question mark could have played 1 game or 125 games, it’s impossible to know unless you check how many they have played.

I've beat a 1700 before. It's not impossible to beat somebody even 500-600 Elo above you!

As for my complaint, I've noticed that when you win by time, you gain less rating than if you won by checkmate. Today, in fact, I beat a 1226 on time while being a rook and a bishop up and almost at a checkmate position, but he ran his clock out on purpose. I didn't gain as much Elo as I normally do (or gain as much as my 1060 opponents do when they win via checkmate, which is normally like +36)...I normally lose like 20, he lost 9...

And then I play somebody 11 Elo above me and lose 15 Elo!?

That is your imagination playing tricks on you. The rating formula know thd result (win, draw, lost) but NOT how you won how many moves, or any such information.
