People pushing their ELO by rejecting / aborting Games ?

Is it only me that has got the impression that ppl are trying to push their ELO by rejecting/aborting a game ?

Aborting a game does not grant elo. Obviously. There is therefore no such reason to do it.

Usually its not about pushing Elo (that does not really work), but rather about avoiding a certain colour, opening, etc.

Also note that Elo is the name of the engineer/scientist who invented the rating method, not an anagram, so only the E should be capitalized.

Yes, otherwise you're referring to the guys who did "Telephone Line."

Technically, if someone were really consistent, such selective filtering of inconvenient games could indeed improve their rating a bit. But such player would soon run into temporary playbans so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

...and it should be correctly written as Élő for the same reason. :-)

Aborting a game multiple times gives you temporary playing restrictions, if I am not wrong.

For me it feels like a pattern. When getting matched i was 1046, the other guy 996. I did play 2600 games, the other guy 996. Ups too risky. 5 secs. later the same guy played a 1024 with 98 games who started 2 weeks ago, chances are higher to win. And....ups....he lost. Made my day.

The point is: When challenged in an automatic match, no one should see the elo, games, etc. Just play dammit.

waiting 10 mins just to play doesnt sound convincing to get to 2000

It was gross hyperbole for humorous effect.
