Why is Lichess getting slower?

So, whenever I play Lichess nowadays, there's always a time where I get disconnected and lose the game even when my internet is stable. This kind of occurance was rare last 3 months ago but now, I lose a lot of elo because of this. Now, my question is why is Lichess kind of getting slower?

your connection to "the internet" is only a small part of what is relevant. the important part is not just between your device and "the internet", but then the full path to the lichess servers. "your internet" might be perfectly fine, but there may still be a problem along the way.

lichess isn't getting slower. the premise of your question is incorrect. if lichess was getting slower, everyone or at least most people would share your experience. but most people don't. the problem is between your device and the lichess server.

That sort of behavior can also be caused by a misbehaving device. For instance, it happened to me for a while because my computer was overheating.

I play chess tournaments weekly in my chess club at around 6PM to 7:30PM and 9PM to 9:45PM. The timezone I am in is GMT +8. Every time I play at these times, I get disconnected in my games even when my internet is stable. @mcgoves said it could be caused by a misbehaving device, but when I logged onto Lichess with my new phone, it was also disconnecting, but when I play at afternoon like 4PM it is fine. Why is Lichess slow at certain times?

Their is a disconnect counter in our profiles. It might not be updated every day but it looks like there was a date that had many.

Yesterday, I went to delete an image and the site crashed.
What a coincidence that was.

I do not think the site is slower or faster. It's stable. Though on occasion I see reconnecting. But that could be some dns somewhere. I'd blame my computer or router before blaming the site. There would be lots of people complaining when there is a true outage.

If you are having DNS errors, maybe - and I can't guarantee anything - adding lichess.org and lichess1.org to your PC's hosts file could help. But typically DNS errors indicate a larger problem.

I'm also getting frequent disconnects and immediate reconnects while on the site. Multiple devices, multiple connection types, on Firefox mobile and PC. This has been happening for at least a month.
