If I see a good move let me make the move. I don't like how it forces me back and makes me repeat it. "NO THAT'S WRONG WHY DO YOU SUCK DO IT AGAIN" really doesn't give my any motivation to keep going.
I would much rather play the game from that point forward and try to win. If it thinks I failed, that's fine. I would rather learn the consequences of my mistake than be forced to replay the same turn when I don't have a clue what the right move is and thought the move I just made was just fine.

Or maybe at least let me see how my move ranks according to stockfish or something. "That was #3 of the top 10 best moves in this position. Can you do better?" type of thing.

Click to reveal the solution, scroll back to the decision point, and turn on Stockfish.

If you don't want to try again, simply move on to the next puzzle.
If you play on from that position against the engine, you won't win, so unclear to me what the benefit is.
The "ranking" of the move is probably not that insightful. "One move wins and every other move draws" (or, "every other move loses") doesn't have very much information.

Well, if it doesn't like your move, then it patently wasn't a good move (or at least, not the best one available). It's all part of the process known as "learning stuff."

Third best move can mean very different things in different positions. In some, best move is +1.2 and third best +1.1; in others, best move is +2.6 and third best is -6.2. Puzzles are selected in such way that even the difference between the best and second best move is substantial, mostly clearly winning vs drawing or winning vs losing.

This is exactly why I hate the current implementation of the puzzles. This idea that there is only one right move has everyone thinking like robots.
Which is funny when you think about it. If someone uses stockfish to play chess they get accused of cheating, but then why does everyone train so hard to play like stockfish?

I would love the ability to play the puzzle from my current move even if it is a doomed position.
At least I could find out why it's a doomed position. Maybe I could learn something?

But that's what puzzles are. Positions selected and presented BECAUSE there is only one right move. If you don't want that, you don't want puzzles.

I've seen this before. I'd keep doing it until I find "The worst move". I use hints to at least find the move
