I've seen situations where the chessboard gets "stuck" but no luck reproducing this one yet.
It is interesting that the f6 square is somehow hilited as a premove here. Do you remember premoves being involved or did that hiliting happen after the board stopped responding?

Actually, English is a bit of the outlier here... "Transforming a figure" is a direct translation of what one would pretty naturally say in several other languages, where "figure" is the common name for a chess piece. In English you sometimes see it used to describe highly artistic (and generally not very practical) chess pieces, similar in use to figurine...
