I’d like to share how I personally view trophies and what gives them value in my eyes.
First, I don’t think the value of trophies should be measured only by quantity. Looking at some tournament stats (the exact figures aren’t the main point here):
Rating: 2608
Performance: 2415
Games played: 64
Win rate: 73%
Berserk rate: 100%
Average opponent: 2150
To me, the “average opponent strength” feels like one of the most meaningful indicators of how difficult the result actually was. That’s where I feel the real “weight” of a tournament or trophy comes from.
I wonder if it could be useful to display additional context when viewing a trophy, perhaps something like a simple strength ratio based on average opponent rating versus the player’s rating at the time of the tournament. For example:
(2150 / 2608) = 82.44%
(2608 / 2150) = 121.30%
In this framing, values above 100% would highlight performances achieved against stronger opposition, which I personally find meaningful and potentially motivating, especially when tracking improvement over time.
Congratulations on your recent accomplishments.
