How do you guess king? I only get options for pawn, knight, bishop, rook, and queen.

Really cool that you actually turned this into a game Zug! But yeah add kings lmao.

There should be a way to scroll horizontally to the right to find the King. If there isn't, let me know!

Oh yeah there is. The kings are so sad. :( Maybe just make the selection box a little wider because that was not at all intuitive. Now that I know that I have successfully solved my first cluechess "puzzle"!
Yeah, I can't make the box wider than the screen width, but I could resize the pieces to fit better. Lemme see what I can manage there...
OK, it should be a bit better now unless you really squash the board. Do Control-F5 to see the change.
Cheers,
Very fun!
Tried it, it worked flawlessly (in Firefox with a gazillion blockers) and I did find it fun and engaging, because you can approach the problem at hand three ways - do a brute force calculation, go with gut feeling and chess playing experience or hazard a guess (literally) on a neuralgic piece.
Would lend itself really nicely (even if I really like the current slow approach) to competitive elements, such as limited time or giving each puzzle a (crude, don't sweat it) Elo rating.
I must also admit that I immediately activated the control numbers since I didn't like the ambiguity, but I can see the point of going by color only, be it for the aesthetic of for speedrunning 'by feel'. Even then I would suggest adding different hues - make blue change to purple for heavy control and yellow into orange. And maybe give "0" a greenish hue because I like green and it would complete the spectrum.
One last thing: You should probably add to the documentation that pieces can only control spaces directly i.e. a battery does not count as double, but only singular control.
The Ballard of Han Niemann is incredible
Thanks very much for this feedback- I’m currently working on a “timed” mode with a high score table, perhaps by the end of the week.
Cheers,
