Analyzing Games Based on Openings #2 - Queen's Gambit, Declined Version

ChessAnalysisOpeningOver the board
Analyzing super GM games everyday!

In this blog series, I analyze grandmaster chess games based on their openings, exploring the ideas, strategies, critical moments, and mistakes that shaped the game. Each post focuses on a different opening and breaks down how top players handle positions, create attacks, defend under pressure, and convert advantages at the highest level of chess. I write a simple summary of the game of the end too.

Game 2 - Mamedyarov S vs Ding Liren
Event : Vugar Gashimov Mem 2019

I did not really find the idea of inserting 10 moves and then going on, so I decided to put all in one go. If you liked the other way, comment!

Summary :
White got a huge center in the opening and retained the pawn, while black had the double bishops, which was also traded a few moves later. They traded into a Knight vs Bishop endgame, where when the queens were on the board, white had a slight edge, but in the endgame, it became equal. After pawn promotion, black won a pawn, but it was a draw, because of the checks.
Thank you!
