A walkthrough of our biggest update yet, including spaced repetition flashcards, full mobile browser support, player search, and bug fixes.

This is another monthly guest post written by my co-founder Varun Kumar. Varun is the technical mind behind Chessalyz.ai. He builds the features and squashes the bugs while I focus on the chess side. Today he’s walking you through our newest (and one of our biggest) updates yet. This includes flashcards and full mobile support.

Hey Chessalyz fam! We’ve been busy, and this is one of our biggest updates yet. If you’d like to join our Chessalyz community, here’s the Skool group: https://www.skool.com/chessalyz-5973/

Let’s dive in.

What’s new:
🃏 Flashcards — revisit and practice critical moments from your games
📱 Full mobile support for analysis and flashcards
🔍 Search games by player name
🐛 Several bug fixes reported by the community

🃏 Introducing: Flashcards

This one’s been cooking for a while, and we’re thrilled to finally share it.

Every critical position from your Chessalyzed games now becomes a Flashcard. Think of it as your personal library of the moments that mattered most. The turning points, the missed tactics, the key decisions.

▶️ How it works:
♟️ Analyze a game → Critical positions automatically become flashcards
🎯 Practice them anytime — try to find the best continuation
💡 Get hints when you’re stuck, reveal the answer when you need to
📊 Track your attempts, time, and progress

The idea is simple but powerful: spaced repetition for chess. Revisiting these positions periodically is one of the best ways to internalize patterns and stop repeating the same mistakes.

We encourage at least 10 positions daily. It takes just a few minutes and compounds over time.

🎁 As an introductory release, Flashcards are unlimited and free for ALL users. In the coming days, non-premium users will have a limited number of cards, so take full advantage while it lasts!

📱 Chessalyz on Mobile

This is a big one. Full Chessalyz analysis and Flashcards now work on your phone’s browser.

We've reworked the layout so you get the complete experience on a small screen. The board, navigation, Matty's coaching, move tables, filters, everything.
Now, we still strongly encourage using a real board for deep analysis, and at least a larger screen when possible. But when you're on the go, commuting, or just want to squeeze in a quick flashcard session, it's all there.

📲 A dedicated phone app is coming soon, but for now the mobile browser experience is solid and gets the job done.

🔍 Search Games by Player

A much-requested feature from many of you: you can now filter your game library by player name. Quickly find all your games against a specific opponent, or narrow down games involving a particular player.

🐛 Bug Fixes

Thanks to everyone who reported issues. We squashed several bugs that were flagged by the community. Your reports directly make Chessalyz better, and we genuinely appreciate every single one. 🙏

🔮 What’s Coming for Flashcards

We have a strong roadmap here. Here’s a taste of what’s next:

✏️ Create your own cards — Build custom flashcard positions for anything you want to practice
📥 Import collections — Bring in positions from external sources
🖨️ Printable cards — Physical flip cards you can take away from the screen
🤖 Matty on Flashcards — This is the big one. Our AI chess coach Matty will start interacting with you during flashcard and puzzle practice, making it feel like a real session with a coach

We’re just getting started. Your feedback shapes what we build next.

💬 We Want to Hear From You

As always, if you spot a bug, report it. If you have feedback, share it. If something feels off or you have an idea, we're all ears. This platform is built with you, not just for you.

🐛 Report bugs — we fix them fast
💡 Suggest features — we read every message
🌟 Share your wins — we love celebrating with you!
