The Psychology of The "Free" Piece: Why Our Brains Betray Us?
Let's talk about thinking before taking a "free" piece. Every time you take "free" pieces, you should think like "It can be trap." and look for the options the opponent has. What's a "Free" Piece?
Every time, we take free pieces, yeah? But a free piece is an undefended and giving no attack options to the opponent when we take it. The real free pieces are the pieces doesn't cause anything when you take them. So we don't even look it can be a trap and fall for it. The trap is a silent attack when you take a "free" piece and start falling deeper and deeper. Every time, when we are falling into the trap, we lose materials, games and ratings. So if you want your rating isn't decrease, take a look to my blog. You can read my another blog named "The "Checklist" Method: The Secret to Increase Your Rating".
A "Free" Piece Gambit: Tennison
This gambit find by Otto Mandrup Tennison. He first played this gambit to H. F. Lee. This gambit's first name was Lemberg Gambit. The Tennison Gambit starts with Reti Opening Nf3. We usually say it the ICBM Gambit.
The opponents usually play Nc6 but if your opponent play the worst move h6??, he will fall into your trap.
After h6??: Sacrifing Like A Pro
After h6, you just sacrificed... DA KNIGHT!!!!. He must take because if he doesn't take his queen will be gone! When he takes you sacrifice DA BISHOP!!!. You played Bg6+!!. Your opponent must resign after that move because his queen will be gone. Say to your opponent "Your queen will be gone , say goodbye to it!" in the match:)
What Can You Do to 5... Nc6?
After 5... Nc6 you will back a pawn so what can you do in that position? Let me explain:
King Safety
When you back a pawn you should know your King's safety. Attack, but don't open the lines until Middlegame's end.
Attack, But Not Much
So do some attacking moves, go with your knight, queen and play the moves preparing the big attack like Rc1 if you castle kingside. If you castle queenside. Play h4, Rhg1 and Rdf1. You can also do a battery with playing g3, Rhg1, Rhg2, Rdg1 and attack to the king if the opponent castled kingside.
Defend Like A Champ
You should know to establish a balance between attack and defense. Like, you attack with your rook, knight, bishop and 3 pawns. But you must defend with the other rook, other bishop and other knight and 3 pawns. So in the middle, attack with 2 pawns and do both attack and defense with your queen.
Another Traps
The chess world has so many traps like Englund Gambit, Noah's Ark, Fishing Pole Trap, Lasker Trap, Budapest Gambit Smothered Mate etc.
So don't fall to this traps and try the Tennison Gambit:)!
