The "Checklist" Method: The Secret to Increase Your Rating

Tactics
If you play chess and your rating has been dropping lately, this blog is for you!

Hello! Are you playing chess? I am. So let's start talking about the checklist method.

The Secret

So I have a secret method to increase your rating easily. If you play chess and your rating has been dropping, you should read my blog and improve your ratings. So let's start about the rules of this method.

Checklist, but why a list?

The Checklist method will help you while increasing your rating. If you play chess and your rating has been dropping, you should use this method. I just used that method in a Blitz game with a 1595 rating player and the match ended in 9 moves. So the method has three rules and you should know them:

King Safety

CCT (I will show you what's it)

The "Blunder" Check

Let me show you what's that rules.

King Safety

So the first rule is King Safety. When you will do a move, you should think "Would this move affect the safety of my king?". If it would affect, you should think again and find the true move. It can be hard in Blitz and Bullet games, so you can look to my blog which is "Speedkilling Matches: Why Playing Fast Kills Your Rating In Easy Positions?". So look at this match to learn King Safety rule:

In that position, I thought "I can take it with h or f pawn, but if I take with them, my king's safety will decrase." So I took the pawn with my bishop.

CCT (Checks, Captures, Threats)

The second rule: CCT. When you are doing a move, look to the checking options, exchanging with the captures and checkmate or a oppurtunity threats you can do or your opponent can do. If you can capture a free piece, you must see it before your opponent sees it. If your opponent sees first, if you don't capture the free piece he will escape it from there. So we can look to that match to understand that rule:

So I just didn't see the free knight and I had chance because my opponent didn't see it too. After the moment I saw the knight I said "Oh he will play it!". BUT HE DIDN'T. So don't be like me. Capture all the free pieces! :)

The "Blunder" Check

The third rule: The "Blunder" Check. When you are doing a move, first you think. "I will do this move but it can be a blunder maybe, so I should find an another move." . Just do a deep analyse and think 4-5 moves ahead. I don't say you "You can't do blunders". You can do. We are all people. But do mistakes and blunders as less as you can do. So let's look to this match to understand:

I will just play Bxe3 but I used The "Blunder" Check rule so I decided to make a mate attack and play Qxe3.

THE END

I hope you enjoyed this blog and that you'll use this tactic to increase your ratings!
