Sindarov takes down another Leader. GCT Romania R8
The first classical event of the 2026 Grand Chess Tour have being place in Romania with 10 elite players facing each other in a round robin format. The line up is formed by: Candidates winner Javokhir Sindarov, US Champ Ffabiano Caruana, Candidates runner-up Anish Giri, The top 7, 8 and 9 of the world Vincent Keymer, Alireza Firouzja & Wesley So, 2 european top guys as MVL & Van Foreest, Olimpiad winner Praggnanandhaa and the local hero and Rumania nº1 Bodgan-Daniel Deac. Each day i going to analyze the best games of the round.
Sindagoat is Back
In the rapid and blitz event in poland and the first part of Romania Sindarov wasn't showing the level of the candidates tournament but in the R7 he beat the leader Vincent Keymer and now he make the same with Jorden Van Foreest, eliminating him from the top contenders and now we are going to have Keymer and Fabi in the top for the last round after their draw in the 8 round.

First Win of Deac
The lowest rated player of the event started bad losing the 2º & 3º rounds but after that he bolt the door making 4 draws in a draw. Finally in the 8th round camed the first victory of the local player.

The battle between the leaders Keymer & Fabi ended in a draw and MVL holded a queens endgame with a pawn down vs Pragg.
For the last round we have Caruana and Keymer in the top with Sindarov and Van Foreest half point behind, the german and the dutch face tomorrow in what looks a decisive game, follow me here and in youtube to see how ends the tournament, bye bye.
