When is the time to commit to learning strategy according to you?

In a position like this

  1. Nf3 Nf6 2. g3 b5 3. Bg2 Bb7 4. O-O c5 5. d3 e6 6. e4 d6 7. a4 b4 8. Nbd2 Be7 9. b3 O-O 10. Bb2 Nc6 11. Re1 Qc7 12. h4
    How far can calculation get you? You have to choose between playing e5, d5 or allowing White to play e5 themseles if they want to

    Should you go for hedgehog or dragon setup? Can you conclude from calculation?

Basically my question how much calculation skill is enough to shift your main focus to strategy? At 1200-2000 level I agree even if you have good understanding, you won't be able to apply it, cuz you won't be able to evaluate the position 2 moves ahead.

So is ~2000 the switching point? If so when do you go back to mainly focusing on calculation?
