Guess it's better for bishop takes cos the knights are more mobile and the mobile knights are valued over a pawn, which may be potentially targeted in the principle of the threat is stronger than the execution.

Nice analysis. I do try to analyze by hand and write my comments, but my usual blogging habits take over, and then the commentary begins. It's good that no one is looking at my notes. Mostly I turn out to be wrong anyway.

The fact that you write your notes is what matters. The value is in the writing, not the reading. Although an occasional review to see how your ideas changed also does help.

Maia, Elite Leela, Leela t1-256 can be used on Lichess via totalnoob's amazing extension. I think seeing the human predicted WDL can give chess players a different lens than just seeing the engine move. Great analysis of the position, I would play Nxf3 also

You meant you played 6... c5, not C4. At the beginning of your article.

I consider the benoni defense to be my main opening. I even play c5 on move 1 against queen's pawn, every single game. I like forcing this structure. Though ideally (in the variations i know) the pawn stays on c5: it anchors our bishop in the future.
I didn't give the position all too much thought honestly, after some brief calculation my intuition just sticked with preserving both knights.
Why? The queen's bishop is black's worst piece in this opening, and usually black just wants to get rid of it. That's possibly not quite the case here, i think you are right in thinking that the bishop might be just as good in this particular scenario.
But more important than that, i think that knight on d4 is a monster piece, a piece white needs to spend resources to eliminate immediately, only for our star bishop to take its place.
In some way, it's not about bishop vs knight but just about the d4 square, which our light squared bishop doesn't know exists.
The d4 square is simply the most important square in this structure. Black's whole opening plan was to lure white into creating that whole.
From another n00b seriously trying to get better, hope this helps.
PS: your method of learning from other amateur's mistakes through the explorer sounds great! Thanks for the idea.

I liked ...Bxf3 intutively. Look at that monster knight on d4!
