  • A move is not good enough. They strive for perfection.

of course, but the context is this move comes from the engine, of course it may change its mind given time, but the perfection is already there for the most part, it is baffling why humans would need to be involved and risk life and limb to compete in a game of such vast proportions to fully understand it would take the course of many lifetimes, meanwhile the machines course of approach has not only mapped the state space of all possible moves of which it is searching, but searching for the searching of the ideal structure that would illuminate the most appropriate state

The late GM Dronov proposed to shorten the time control so as to provoke mistakes and hence decisive games.

honestly, that is wonderful, a mistake is really an opportunity in disguise for a counterstriker who plays to win, dronov is on plus-1 with four games unfinished, he might win a fourth title!

Dronov died during the tournament, so his 10 unfinished games were marked losses.

i am not so interest in those games, since presuming he had made preparations to vacate the physical cavity and continue on in the neural networks, one could say the soul of the positions remain untouched, only the operating system updated

All games ended in draws, except for 10 games marked lost by GM and 3 times former World Champion Aleksandr Surenovich Dronov, who died.
In a sense, they reached perfection. Personally, I can't imagine I would want to play a game of chess knowing that most likely the only chance to win is if my opponent dies. But people do all kind of weird stuff.

It's kind of absurd... there were two players from our country in the tournament. One of them was still playing with GM Dronov when he died so that he is a world champion (together with 9 others). The other (reportedly) drew his game two days before his opponent died so that he is not a world champion.
