"Error #5: Playing Actively When We Should Be Defending"
- The converse is also frequent: playing passively when we should play actively.
I often see players who gambit a pawn, or accept a static weakness like an isolated queen's pawn, or a backward pawn and then start playing waiting moves, giving the opponent the opportunity to consolidate and then exploit the static advantage.

Agree 100%!! I guess that's one of the tricky things about chess. You can't just give "rules to follow". At the end of the day, the player needs to make up their own mind based on the specifics of every position, and I guess that's what being a higher-rated player is about; knowing the difference...

Please stop with the AI thumbnail, I'm begging ya!
This one is a slightly modified version of the earlier one.
You said before that you weren't good with graphics.
But you are tho, cos of the cool utube thumbnails.

Hey @RuyLopez1000, I actually have to pay someone to make the YouTube thumbnails.
But, it's quite expensive. What can I do without spending additional money on a picture?
By the way, didn't you use an AI thumbnail the other day? Just curious, I could swear
I saw someone named Ruy Lopez, and I wondered if that was you ;)

Maybe make it yourself? It's really fun! (It's easy to learn, just get GIMP which is free). It's not difficult at all.

Indeed I did. It used it in a ironic sense as I was discussing AI.
I captioned it 'WARNING: This Image is AI Slop (Perchance.org)' XD.

@RuyLopez1000 ahh ok, I didn't know.
Unfortunately, I barely have enough free time to write these articles.
So spending more time on the image would have to reduce the time spent on the article =(
I do agree that the AI images aren't that great, they're just quick.
If anyone wants to volunteer some images for the blog (which I'll credit of course), then I'll welcome that!!

Well, I don't really care abt thumbnails as long as blog content is good. Though I'm near 2500 in blitz and former 2600+ in rapid, I appreciate the time you put in blogs. Thumbnails should really not be a issue, its not a video format that u care abt thumbnails :|
