The Lichess Game Compressor's Analysis of Game 1

Very cool post :)

On an unrelated note, I once made a Lichess bot that used the compression function as an evaluation function. It didn't win a single game.

I like that too! Is the code available by any chance?

I am glad some of us are on this. I might be working or hoping to work at another level. Keep that up, that other level might need that level, if not too much information getting lost... Je parle à travers mon chapeau, bien sûr.

  1. ... Nb2??. This is the 47 best move out of 49 available moves in the position.

there is no way this is true. that would mean there are only two moves worse than Nb2, but Qa5, Qc5, Qd6, and Qxe5 all hang a queen for a pawn and no compensation. how is Nb2 worse than any of those?

This got me, lol. For a moment I thought that Lichess actually used some bastardized version of Huffman coding for its compression, 'optimizing' for the best Stockfish move rather than frequency. I was beginning to question whether I should be using a site created by such a psycopathic genius.

This is surely trolling
