You're right - embedding a player makes it much easier. However, I have two reasons for not doing that: I think that the text is more important than the actual moves in an annotated game, and a player moves the focus from the test to the moves. The other reason is a generation thing, I grew up with books and magazines, so I like that format. Also, the diagrams inserted at points of interest will highlight the critical moments, and that tends to get lost using a player.
Anyway, I'll try it out for a future post, but I'll make no promises!
