The Joy and Pain of High-Level Chess

@UncleRogerJr

I liked the g4 attacking idea. Nc3 locked the center for an attack. Sarana didn't find 11.Be6! for clean equalization.

Great annotations. (The word 'great' seems too meager for such a marvelous study)

You got the best annotation game in town.

Sarana and Van Foreest packed their bags long ago.

Their effort vanished in the mist. 132 entered, only 3 will leave.

Indeed! Thanks for your support! Yes, Sarana and Van Foreest both have been eliminated, which is a testament to just how strong this year's field is. It's quite exciting to see new stories being written before our eyes, and three players will live out a childhood dream of qualifying for the candidates!

I argue that India is not the birthplace of modern chess, even if the earliest chess like games were invented there. For modern chess to happen you need to standardize the rules and notation, standardize the equipment and make it formal and competitive.

Yeah for sure, that opinion is definitely valid. Although you cannot take away the significance that India had on the sport.

Nice annotation of the game. Indeed a brawl between Van Foreest and Sarana. But note, whatever you do, do NOT spread "6 7" to chess. The last thing we need is for Magnus or Hikaru to mention it.

I don't even understand this 6 7 thing (being a 14 year old by the way) and I don't see what good it does to chess, but I might not know enough on this brainrot subject to have a valid opinion.
But my thought is that chess should be a formal game (at least not brainrotted)
