Seriously...what is the point of chess? Why be good at some random boardgame? Do things that matter instead. I hope to quit chess too, its just kind of addictive

What is the point of chess? (you ask)
Why not do some noble task
Instead? Or just sleep on in bed?

I must respond, by saying this:
The point of chess is simply bliss
at last! (Just don't play fast).

It's like a koan or mantra, friend!
Explore positions to the end,
with all your might (into the night!)

And after hours within the zone,
creating futures of your own
design, just share them (be they foul or fine!)

Make a move, and then be still
and watch the board reflect your will,
or maybe not. But give the effort all you've got.

And if you do, you'll rise a bit
and play therefore with increased wit
forever after (or dismiss this trifle with a bit of laughter).
