Hey, I tried the keto diet for a very long time and I love it.
Now, the brain performs better in short term with sugar ; not even mentionning the short term effects on the muscles.

So that's why I am recommending to charge yourself with carbs before the tournament and stay on pure protein and low eating during the tournament.

:D

ive found that if my calculations are falling apart and my brain is burning out, carrots are a nice refresher halfway through a 4 hour lichess tournament

Just eating chocolates before the tournament lol.
Making my energy and confidence go up.
I wouldn’t recommend chocolates, but it helps me alright.
After all, I am still a child lol XD

In my chess club, we are seeing young players already counting calories and/or make sure that they do carb up before the tournament.
There's always a right balance and stuff like chocolate isn't a problem hehe
