Currently, about 85–90% of competitive FIDE-rated chess players are men, while only 10–15% are women.
What could possibly be the reason.....
Because chess is historically a gated games for males. A good thing is that's it changing, albeit slowly. We're at 10-15% now, but it will get better overtime.
Historically gated you say......Im not too familiar with that history...... I know several other sports where it was frowned upon for a woman to participate.......but.....what was the justification barring women from chess....

Imagine hearing this type of sentiment over and over again, it simply turns a certain percentage of woman away from chess.
It's not so difficult to understand.

Peanut ....please.....you are straying away from the topic of conversation ........what gender......I wish you emotional healing...from whatever is bothering you.....but drop some stats so we could have a productive logical conversation ...rather than what amounts to a mud-slinging...which I won't participate in....

Not sure what's mud slinging about that. It's just an example of sexism against woman in Chess.

No I'm saying: because men in forums and in real life have these prejudice and let woman feel that, many are turned away from chess.
Some examples from wiki:
In a 1963 interview, Bobby Fischer was dismissive of female players, calling them "terrible" and said it was because "[women] are not so smart".[46] In 2015, Nigel Short argued that male players performed better because men and women were "hard-wired" for different skills,[47] which was met with controversy.[48] In 2022, Ilya Smirin, while broadcasting live during the ninth round of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2022–23, said that chess was "maybe not for women", and also praised a woman for playing like a man.

Woman are not worse at Chess like you claim again here, but they may not want to play, given the treatment they experience. Those are different things, right?

Chess is a game of skill, not gender. Women's chess prowess is proven by countless grandmasters—their success depends on talent and effort, not biology.

Peanut ....I appreciate you for citing wiki for once on this matter but....you still failed to make a point....let me explain....
.I do ultra marathons.... running greater than 100 miles....but what this particular sport has shown is....women excel at this sport far better than men......and there were a lot of famous ultra runners who said how....men couldn't take the heat....et al .....but....that hasn't affected men's particupation in the sport at all......there are as many men in the sport as the women......
So I stand by my previous statement.....you are assuming women don't have the capacity to rise above prejudice.....by saying just because bobby Fisher dismissed women.....they left the chess scene is..... ridiculous.....
I believe men and women are equal.....if men can rise above prejudice....so can women .....

You tried to bring up a point......I showed you your flaw in your argument......You couldn't come back with a coherent response.....so you decided to side step my argument and went right back to labelling me.......Im disappointed ....
