As a frequent user of lichess's analysis board (I use it for my game reviews on YouTube), I've noticed something that could be refined for a smoother experience. I think it would be precise to have arrows and circles populate only after the right mouse button has been pressed AND released. Currently intended actions, mainly with the drawing of arrows, produce unintended visuals. For instance, if you try to draw an arrow, a circle always appears first, even if just momentarily. Moreover, trying to draw a diagonal arrow in particular will more often than not display briefly first to an adjacent square before it sort of "gets going". One final note, arrows and circles grow slightly after the release of the right mouse button. That subtle animation effect is a nice touch. Would that be lost if arrows and circles populate only after the right mouse button has been pressed AND released? If possible, I hope that animation can still be preserved under this proposed change. For reference, my current setting under Preferences > Game Behavior > 'Snap arrows to valid moves' is set to 'Yes'. Switching this to 'No' doesn't affect the concern described above. https://i.postimg.cc/kgs7mC8s/Arrows-Circles.gif
Thanks for considering, and keep up the great work!

I like this idea as long as you don't change the default behavior. I like having no animation on the arrows if there is no animation on your pieces moving though. Those two seem to be similar enough behavior that they could be combined into just the one setting IMO.

I agree with jerry sometimes it is fun drawing arrows....

I think current behavior does make it easier to tell where the arrow is going to end, perhaps useful for many people. What seems odd to me is that with "snap to valid moves" turned on, it will still snap to the left of the pawns or even go all the way across the board.
