Nepo is a wimp so far, no doubt. In the second game he was too afraid of a Kingside attack from Carlsen so he bailed out with that c3 move when he could have played for a win.
The moderators on chess.com, including Caruana OTOH, did not even see the Bxh7+, Rd4 threat which Nepo saw and suggested bxa4 for black but even that only leads to a draw.

Where did Carlsen play simple moves? At the end maybe?
Rb1 was a mistake. If he plays Be3 he has enough compensation but not more.
If Carlsen only wanted a draw he could have played 8. a4 instead of 8.Ne5. I guess this first computer move has been analysed to a draw by both. It leads to a black pawn sacrifice but white can not win. https://lichess.org/VrlWruQP

However, that's amazing that in two rounds Magnus and Nipo draw the game by threefold repetition. I guess it shouldn't"t be happening in the 3rd round
