HCC Classical Thursday - March 2022

Round 4 Report

Five good and interesting games were played in round 4. The results in each round have not been totally predictable which is great to see - except of course in the case of my predictions for my personal performance :)

With a victory in a well-played Sicilian Kalashnikov @BigData1969 assured himself of at least a share of first place going into our final round next week. It turns out that he will not have to share that trophy however as @E3Engineer drew his game with @perryand1971. Farther down the table, @datasmith had a victory over @denisbouchard, @hodjon won against @sausjulian and @chavezo went down to defeat against @rsava.

SonicFalcon vs BigData1969 lichess.org/MFWBGojH 0-1
E3Engineer vs perryand1971 lichess.org/HPEwAg1H 1⁄2-1⁄2
denisbouchard vs datasmith lichess.org/GfrYTZSd 0-1
sausjulian vs hodjon lichess.org/Rtl4aFDN 0-1
rsava vs chavezo lichess.org/8IeZuwqv 1-0

Instead of summarizing all the games in a line or two I have annotated the game @SonicFalcon-@BigData1969. Obviously I don't pretend to have done a proper analysis but I hope my comments give you some idea of what is going on in this game. Black's attack is instructive and worth looking at.
