My Racing Kings Career
ALucasM's path through Racing Kings explainedRacing Kings is my favorite variant. I am top 100 in all the world (not just active players, I assume.) But how did I get there? Why did I get there? Well, here is...
My Career
The Beginning
I played my first game 4 years ago according to Lichess, and this is where my career began. Did I know I just played my first game of the variant that would become something I'm actually good at? No. But that was my goal. To understand what my goal was, you will have to understand that 4 years ago, I was a young child, and young children have wild ambitions of being famous one day. I wanted to hit the leaderboards with a variant since I was bad at standard chess. 3+ was my first try, but obviously that didn't work out. Eventually I found Racing Kings, and that's when my life changed.
My First Steps
I thought 1800 was pretty good. Comparing my 1800 rating with my 1500 rating that was my standard chess rating, I felt like a pro. And I felt even better after I discovered the RKWC! I signed up for 2022, and in the first round played IMMM. Now most people know that he went on to become the world champion, so obviously I didn't win. But I did good. After our match, IMMM sent me something. But little did he know that he had just sent me the highlight of my career.
I remember telling my parents about it, and even though I knew they didn't understand what it meant, I did, and I was very happy. Shortly after this I hit 1900.
2000 - 2100
I was stuck at 2000 for over a year until finally this year I hit 2100. In the time when I was still 2000 I played in the RKWC again. I came in 11th according to Challonge. I finally obtained 2100 when I discovered the Allicket! The Allicket was created by me and my friend Cricket! The opening starts by moving the bishop out to D4, and then after either Black responds by moving his bishop out to E4 or his king to B3, White moves his knight to F4! This worked because the move was a blunder according to the computer, so naturally nobody studied it. It has been since only marked as a mistake. Getting to 2100 might be my 3rd favorite part of my career except for becoming top 50 of active players.
2200
I did it. I got 2200. This was practically my dream. I promised my friend after parting ways that the next time I saw him I would be 2200, and I finally did it. I improved my Bd4 game very much to get here. I even hit 2300 and got higher rated than Seth_777 once! Although I obviously don't deserve that rating, it was really cool seeing '2300' next to my name. As 2200, I played my most recent RKWC where I failed miserably! I won my second weekly which was the first weekly on this account. I came second in the shield also, almost winning. Being 2200 has been incredibly...well...incredible!
Now that I've posted the general overview of my career, I think it's time I retire from competitive play. Don't get me wrong, I will still play in the shields and stuff, but I won't strive to be the RKWC Champion or anything like that...yet. Feel free to ask questions about my career in the comments because I know I didn't cover everything I could've! Happy Racing!
