Chess Improvement Journey | Week 1

ChessTournamentOver the boardOff topic
As I'm still recovering from a somewhat rough tournament and started documenting my journey just last Wednesday there isn't much write home about yet ... but there is still some progress I can share

Reviewing my tournament games

By reviewing my games I noticed, that a lot of my mistakes come from innacurate or incomplete calculations. A painful example:

To top it off I fumbled this game massively even in an position up 2 pawns (even though black does have compensation for these), by playing this "brilliant" sacrifice:

Another game, where I thought I was slick and was forcing a draw out of a worse position (and got lucky)

https://lichess.org/study/PCyDF779/0DAH94EU#49

And another game, where I gave my lower rated opponent a chance to survive after building up a big advantage

And the final round, where I was still playing for second place and a prize of 100€:

You get the point. I probably was doing to much "BANG BANG TACTIC"-Training and wasn't supplementing it with enough actual calculation. So going foreward I started writing down every important line while solving puzzles and prioritizing the accuracy with which I calculated. Let's see if it solves my issue of innacurate calculation.

The grind continues

As I have played two classical games this monday I did not scheduel anything for this week, but starting next week I'm searching for classical games. I should also work on establishing my classical rating on Lichess, to finally play the LoneWolf League. The last classical dojo tournament ended aswell, so I'm most definitly signing up for that as soon as it starts up again. I also may decide to play a short OTB tournament in two weeks, but still not completely sure about that.

Besides that there is honestly not a lot to report on yet. See you next weekend :)
