My Journey Through RK

Guitar09's journey through the world of RK.

Hello and welcome to my blog, My Journey Through RK.

I started playing RK after a long history with Hyper Bullet, which I recently started playing again. After months of bullet, I realized that I was never going to be a GM, so I'd better start on a less popular variant.

This is where I fell in love with the variant Racing Kings.

I'm not going to lie, there where a few wrinkles in the beginning; I couldn't figure out that you shouldn't just move your king strait up. (If your a struggling RK player, I recommend looking at my other Blog.) I also had a hard time not getting my rooks taken by my opponent's bishops. I had a hard time, but after a few months, I was up and running at a rating of 1800.

Getting to 1900.

I admit, I had a struggle with reaching 1900. My rating went all over the place, from 1870 to 1890, and then back again. But i kept with it, and finally I touched the rating 1900.

2000 and 2100.

After a short struggle with the 1900's, I made to 2000. I immediately plowed to 2050, and then took a short plummet to 2025. And after a long time (Three months at least) I spiked to 2100. Then I went back down 2065, gathered myself, and pushed back 2100.

My history with 2100.

2100 was hard. It was hard to keep up your rating (I went down many many times) and it was hard getting paired with good players every time you entered a tournament. But for the most part I kept it up.

My retirement.

I know what you are thinking. Do you plan to play more? Are you ever going to play again? Before I answer your questions, I will tell you why I retired. I went down really far. Like 120 rating points. I played extremely carefully, and finally made it back to the 2100's, but I felt like I needed a break. So I stopped playing for awhile, and soon the break turned into kind of a retirement. But, I do plan to come back in a few months. In the meantime though, anyone can challenge me to casual RK with any time control they want.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog, and, like I said, I hope someone will challenge me to casual RK sometime. Also join my team The Best Racing Kings Players in the Nation. It is a great community of RK players.
