Chess server on Revolt, open-source chat platform

Checking out interesting piece of open-source software

Revolt is a social platform and interesting piece of open-source software. But as with a lot of such new good projects, while it may have some pluses, low userbase makes them obsolete and it's a bit sad. So I decided to make a chess server there and write about Revolt here.

Interface, pluces/minuses

Revolt has an interface very similar to Discord, if you ever used Discord, you'll intuitively navigate there.
And since they are so similar I'll just compare them

Using Revolt you also can make servers (communities), and chat with other users in direct messages. Differences, Revolt doesn't offer you nitro/boosts for money, opposite, it has some features that Discord has only with nitro - you can use emojis across servers and use any emoji be it animated or not. It supports markdown. It's open-source and non-profit, right now at least. It's privacy-okay, they claim not to sell your data and to have plans to implement end-to-end encryption. Also you can use only email to register.

Getting to minuses, main one is of course low userbase, while Revolt hit 500 000 users this october (mainly due Discord getting banned in some countries) it not much (but you can fix it by registering). Also, no videocalling, no screenshare, no IOS client and Android client is kind of meh (web version is ok though). But developers are working on these things slowly.

In the end, I recommend checking out :) And you can find my chess server
