Basics of Chess.Introduction: How to think of chess
Thinking of chess is like thinking of how to use a whole army. You have to pay attention to all of your pieces and make sure none get caught.
Pieces 1: Using a Pawn
The best way to use a Pawn is to get it to the end of the board. There, it can promote to a Knight, Bishop, Rook or Queen. Make sure it doesn't get caught. It is, however, the WEAKEST player unless you use it to check, checkmate, or promote it. It moves forward one square, with the exception of when it captures 'En Passant' or when it captures any piece, going diagonal one square, It has the value 1.
Pieces 2: Using the Knight
The Knight is an important piece in the game. While most times you can block a check, with a Knight, and only with a Knight (if you are planning a single piece check) you can force the King to move or capture the Knight. It moves in L shapes- two squares and one square. Each time it moves, it goes onto a different colour square. It has no special moves. It has three times the value of a Pawn, so it has the value 3.
Pieces 3: Using the Bishop
The Bishop is a key piece to some very vital checkmates. It moves diagonally but can only stay on one colour, which is why there is two of them, on separate colours. It also has no special moves, but also has the value 3.
Pieces 4: Using the Rook
The Rook brings the move 'Castling'. More on that below. The Rook brings the concept of crushing, even though it could be in Bishop concept as well. It moves in straight lines, horizonal and vertical. It has the value of 5. The only special move, 'Castling', could be used as defense or offense.
Pieces 5: Using the Queen
The Queen is the most valuable piece apart from the King. It is a combination of a Rook and a Bishop, however it cannot be used for castling. There is only one on the board. It has the value 9, and is a major difference to the advantages.
Pieces 6: Using the King
The King can move in all directions, however it can only move one square. Usually, it is the most useless piece as it cannot capture pieces being protected by other pieces. It is the most valuable piece as if it is put into checkmate, the game ends. Checkmate refers to when the King cannot escape check. It has infinite as its value, like my flair.
Special Moves 1: Castling
Castling is the act of simply switching the King's position with the Rooks, enclosing the King. This can happen only if all of these are achieved:
- The King has not moved since the game has started.
- The Rook has not moved for the same period of time.
- The King and the Rook have no pieces between them.
- The King is not under check if it moves both one square and two squares towards the Rook.
Then, during the next turn of the person who wants to castle, the person moves their King two steps towards the Rook.

Special Moves 2: En Passant
This move happens if a pawn is on the 5th rank and a pawn moves to their rank from the 7th rank. The result is the player then move behind the moved pawn and capture it.
